In the Beginning, In the End

Fifteen years. That’s the average on how long it takes for  people to  “make it” in Hollywood. And I’m not just talking about the stories I’ve read in magazines about celebrities making it big, I also mean someone making a movie and blasting off their indie career. Or someone making a name for themselves as an agent, special effects artist, etc.
Now it’s been fifteen years. I thought I had made it. I was fulfilling my goals – being a mother and making movies. Working in a non-profit even.  These were now my  “big” goals since I left the actual Hollywood to pursue smaller goals.  Yet that blew up in my face. Seems like you can take the girl out of Hollywood but not the Hollywood out of all the other jerks who work in this business.  So, just like the when I moved to LA all starry eyed and met a woman who was moving away from all the horrors she had seen, I’m bitter. Tired of getting my creative ideas stolen or smashed. Tired of the people who would kill for your job. Tired in general.
But what do I do with all this carnage? All the movie projects I started and never finished? The ones I finished but never got distributed? How about a vlog? Blog to remember the hopeful beginning. A vlog to show off the material in the way I always wanted anyhow. And then a blog to show the bitter end. And who knows. This could be the start of a new career. Stranger things have happened in Hollywood.
